Hi,
We are trying to replace some old edge routers with CCR2216. The topology is simple 2xEdge Routers both connected with one 10G Layer3 interface to ISPs and a single Layer 3 LAN interface connected to Clients for the public subnet. Currently the Clients(servers) have default gateway pointing to a VRRP IP in the Edger routers. My Idea was to bring in the 2x CCR2216 just replacing the current edge routers in the same fashion. I have configured fasttrack , disable connection tracking and I have no forward rules in the ip firewall filter section. The CCR2216 don’t need to inspect the
traffic, just forward to the clients. However the more and more I read about L3HW offload the more I worry about possible performance issues when we move to production.
However reading documentation it seems VRRP and Simple Queueing is not supported when using L3HW offload, two features we would like to use when moving to production the CCR2216. Without VRRP , I’m not sure how I am going to provide the default gateway to clients in a high avilability way.
Is anyone able to help or suggest the right topology in this scenario to maximize performance?
I have attached a diagram for reference.
