Cell Phone and serial port

what cell phone I should use? can I use my own 6510 phone ? and what cable I should buy and do I have to have gprs enabled from my cell phone provider? I bought a cable which will plug behind my phone and I have to take out the sim card and battery and plug it into the cable
I tried to connect it to serial port on my mikrotik box and as soon as it rings it will turn off the phone.

I want to do telnet and remote control… and will it convert the vga screen to telnet? like I want to see what error happen when it crashes.

I’ve used 6150 connected to PC with serial cable. It acted as standard modem responding to AT commands. I see no reason why it should not work with MikroTik too, since MT also uses plain AP commands to controll modem.

I could not say about your phone.

I assume it was typo for 6150? or you have different phone? I don’t know if my phone support at command, but any idea but the cable model and things? how about gprs ? do I have to have enabled gprs on my sim card from the Cell Phone company? or it should work just like normal fixed phone line and normal modem?

I used 6150, and also 6210. They acted as modems using built in GSM modem, and I could connect any other modem as expected. I do not know about your model but I assume Nokia phones are pretty much the same if they have GSM modem built in. Check it out.

GPRS is something else, and I gess it will not work with MT directly.
