Hi I’m working with the mAP lite and mAP 2n devices, My set-up is working well, now I just want to modify the default to this set-up.
I have created a backup script via the Terminal & the export command, but when I selected this within netinstall the script was included after reinstalling RouterOS but then wasn’t maintained after reset? I guess I got the wrong idea?
There is mention in the RouterOS manual Wiki about putting the Script in the FLASH folder so that the run-after-reset command can be used? But how do I get the script into the FLASH folder??
OK I’ve tried the Netinstall option several times now and this is what I see happening:
The RouterOS is reinstalled and the selected script is run/installed as expected but when I then go and initiate a reset by:
Holding reset button during boot for 5 sec
or
from within Webfig / Winbox selecting System / Reset Configuration
The factory configuration is reinstalled not the script I’d previously used in the Netinstall process
I’m concious The RouterOS Wiki instructions detail the use of Netinstall V3.19 not the latest V6.34.1?? (see attached pdf)
Since 3.19 and few more options have changed on the control panel, For me could anyone clarify the check box option “Apply Default Config” ie does this set the selected script to be the Default or does it just load the Factory default? If it only just loads the default factory, how is this different from just reinstalling the RouterOS without a script?
I’m sorted with this now, was really a case of not knowing the expected behaviour from Netinstall, I’m seeing some odd behaviour which requires me to close netinstall and relaunch it once my routerboard has booted to Netinstall? not sure what that is about, but if I go through this step then I can successfully re-install RouterOS and the Configure script.
If you make a restore, you get the old default-configuration script with it. You have to make a backup after netinstall with your own-default-configuration script. Or a other way to change the name of the default-script.
Sorry, I have to correct my statement above. It is more difficult as I thought with the reset-button.
Which script is used after reset is not a part of the Backup
After a restore ist the original Default-configuration script activ
The Mikrotik-Support write:
“Default configuration can be changed so it also is a part of router configuration.
It should be saved in backup files together with current configuration.”
I think it is wrong!
Here is my Experiment:
Router “hAP lite” upgrade to 6.35.2 with netinstall.exe 6.35.2 and my_own_script.rsc.
In the script is only one Line: "/system backup load name=mybackup password=mypassword.
the router starts with “my_own_script.rsc”. The Backup mybackup.backup doesn’t exist as yet.
Everythink is ok.
I make a test and reset with the reset-button, and the router starts with “my_own_script.rsc”.
Everything is ok.
I make some konfigs and then a backup - mybackup.backup ist created.
I make a test and reset with the reset-button, and the router starts with “my_own_script.rsc”.
Everything is ok. “mybackup.backup” is restored.
I make a test and reset with the reset-button, and the router starts with the original-Default-script.rsc
The Problem is: Now the router has an aktiv open WLAN
Here is a more easier Experiment:
Upgrade with netinstall.exe without “apply Default config” and “Configure script”
The router starts without any configuration
Login and make a backup
Make a reset with the reset-buton, it works fine
Make a restore with your backup
The router starts without any configuration, this is right
Make a reset with the reset-buton again, and was is happend?
The Router starts with his original default-configuration and everyone has acces to your LAN.
I told this bug several times to the mikrotik support, but they won’t here.
