Changed Router with 2.8X to new router with 3.1X

Folks,

I upgraded to a new router with RouterOS 3.11 running hotspot from an older router with 2.8X which ran hotspot.
Almost everything works fine except a few clients we are having a problem getting them authenticated. They don’t get the log on page.

it appears that it is clients that are behind repeaters (i.e. Main AP -->CPE unit attached to an AP -->the client’s CPE unit).

One can get authneticated but it appears that no others can’t. They can get an IP address no problem from the DHCP server but they don’t get the log on page I can ping outside the network no problem from the client’s PC.

When I look at the host list, I see their IP address but the MAC address associated to it is partly their CPE MAC with te last 4 digits unclear where they are from. If I look at the leases in the DHCP server list, they MAC of the client’s network card shows up which is fine.
We use Tranzeo gear in our network.

Any ideas on what is going on? All worked fine prior to the change.

export AP config and CPEs configs, remove unneeded and default settings and look well at your config and think. and post them here, after removing default settings and unneeded configs from them, for us to see and be able to tell :slight_smile:

I experienced the same problem on an RB493 and version 3.11. Customers were unable to get the login page for the hotspot even when typing the IP address of the hotspot directly in the web browser. Having setup many hotspots I verified the config matched a working copy. The resolution in my case was to upgrade the firmware to 3.20.
