Hello everyone, totally new on the Mikrotik family and I feel a bit confused.
I m planning to buy a Chateau 5G AX and use it as my primary internet provider for my home network since there are no other options like cable, fiber or even a decent vdsl.
Bellow is my current network configuration:
ISP Router in passthrough mode > TP-Link Archer ax73 (main router) > Multiple TP-Link AX50 Decos creating a wi-fi mesh.
I would like to replace the ISP router (is in modem only mode) with the Mikrotik and keep the rest of the network intact.
Is this possible? If so what kind of configuration am I looking for on the Mikrotik router?
You should be able to put the Chateau 5g into bridge mode and then plug it into the wan port of your current router. However I’d go for the Chateau 5g R16 as it has a more up to date modem in it.
The R16 Is also some 100 bucks cheaper.
Choosing a device might depends on several factors, including requisites you may have and the objective kind of service/coverage that exists in your location.
Maybe you can expand on these, right now some relevant info is missing and I cannot understand what are your expectations, using a Chateau as a simple LTE modem seems to me a waste of money, but of course there might be very valid reasons why you are exploring this possibility.
Does anyone has any idea is there some kind of limitation for concurrent connections / nat-sessions when using 5G?
We are trying to set up this device for one of our customers and everything works well as long as the uplink is through ethernet, but with 5G it seems that when the connection amount goes over 1000, something happens and web surfing etc becomes almost impossible, pages just does not load anymore.. It can be also on operator side issue, but just asking if anyone has some ideas / there is some known limitations with lte/5g modem used with this beauty.
