Chateax 5g AX - lte cannot connect unless I reinsert the SIM

I have even upgraded to latest (now) 7.13beta2 (development) and modem RG502QEAAAR13A03M4G_02.001.02.001
The moment I insert the sim it connects fine to the provider. The moment I do any change that will need to reconnect to the provider it won’t connect anymore.
Even if I reboot the device, turn it off and on nothing.
The only way I can get it to reconnect is to remove the sim and plug it back! Then it connects again and works until the next reboot or change of lte settings.
Also when it won’t connect I also get the power led to flash red.
When I replug the sim and connects it turns blue again.
Any ideas?

one of the lte logs that might be useful is
lte1 mbim: register state: searching, nwe: illegal MS

so far I managed to “solve” it by adding a watchdog towards the internet and after 3-4 restarts it manages to work again.
I have noticed that if I enable the 3g mode as well it manages to work at 1-2 restarts unless it is just more “lucky” like that.

I just tried it on a new chateau same version and I upgraded it to 7.12.1 and I didn’t have the issue while keeping the initial modem firmware RG502QEAAAR13A02M4G_01.001.01.001.
I stopped and started the lte interface 30 times and all of them in 10’ it was connected again.

The moment I upgraded to the following modem firmwares the problem started
RG502QEAAAR13A03M4G_01.001.01.001
RG502QEAAAR13A03M4G_02.001.02.001

lte1 mbim: register state: searching, nwe: illegal MS

Best to create supout.rif and make a ticket to support with your findings.

This is my first post and a begginer. I have the exact same problem as you and removing/inserting the SIM is the only way as you say which in my case takes many tries to get a cellular connection.
