Checking type of encryption used by available wi-fi networks

Is there a way to view the type o encryption used by wireless neworks within wifi range?

It seams to be quite easy to check that with the use of an i-Phone or other wi-device.
But while scanning with my r-52 card, I can not see what encryptions are being used by networks in range.

How else can I check wich ones are available?

I want to find out how can I see the type of encryption used by all available WiFi networks.
