CHR Free License

In the CHR wiki page (https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=18350234#CloudHostedRouter(CHR)-Freelicenses), it states that a free license is available for CHR, which is limited to 1mbps througput:

"The free license level allows CHR to run indefinitely. It is limited to 1Mbps upload per interface. All the rest of the features provided by CHR are available without restrictions. To use this, all you have to do is download the disk image file from our download page and create a virtual guest."

Where & how do you create a “virtual guest” to get a free license? I have scoured Google and the Mikrotik sites, but cannot find an answer to something that sounds very simple.

Thanks for any help.

CHR is RouterOS variant which runs inside virtual machine. So the text referring to “virtual guest” means you have to create a virtual machine … either in some cloud (Amazon, Google, …) or on your own VM host (e.g. Oracle VirtualBox). After you decide which kind of VM infrastructure you’re going to have underneath, you have to download appropriate CHR image from Mikrotik download page (Cloud Hosted Router section).
