If I buy a license for a CHR router today, and later RouterOS 7 is released, the license covers that?
I cannot find how major version upgrades are covered by the license. A perpetual license includes unlimited upgrades?

It used to be different (I don’t recall when they changed their licensing model) and a license would not cover unlimited major version upgrades.
At some point (I think during v5) they changed this model.
I’ve got licenses that I bought in 2005 using v2.9.x and have upgraded them to v3, v4, v5, v6 over the years without issues.
Unless MikroTik changes their policy again, at the moment a license covers unlimited upgrades.
