CHR on Amazon Cloud ROS 7 upgrade server crash

Hello everybody!
I launched 1 month ago one CHR on Amazon Cloud using the marketplace. After launch CHR has ROS 6.
I used system packages to install latest stable version of ROS 6 and then I select upgrade to latest ROS 7. Till now everything OK!
Yesterday I decided to upgrade to ROS 7.1.3 but after installation virtual server crashed !!! Never booted again…
Exactly the same issue I had on upgrade from 7.1.1 to 7.1.2
Any idea? Thank you

Hi. What do you see in VM’s console during startup?

system checks from AWS ec2 console are failing. that happens only when upgrading from ROS 7 to ROS 7

Yes. I tried to upgrading from 7.1.3 to 7.1.5
The instance failed to boot after upgrade.

I have done this quite some times now. Its seems like there is some bug stopping the AWS instance if you upgrade from ros 7.x to 7.x. from 6.x to 7.x its ok. I have crashed about 5 instances now, same happening every time.

We had some similar issues in a few occasions when running instances with very low (ie too low) memory footprint. In our case it was fixed by increasing available memory. Also check you haven’t run out of storage space.

Hello!
Any update regarding the issue?

Hi,
Why mikrotik no fix or upload new AMI to aws market?

we buy license but we cant use in producción becouse It isnt stable.

Regards.

I’ve been dealing with this same issue and working with Mikrotik support since March. Previously I was unable to figure out how to create my own AMI. This weekend I finally realized what I was previously doing wrong. I have documented in relative detail the issues I’ve experienced with T3/T3a instances, and how to create your own 7.6 AMI so you can create stable ROS 7 instances.

Creating a CHR Instance in AWS EC2

I’ve provided this information to Mikrotik support (ticket SUP-77812). Hopefully they’ll create an ROS 7 AMI soon. In the meantime, you have the information you need to create your own.
