The guide at the beginning of the initial large CHR forum post isn’t working for me (it’s Mac, I’m using Win7).
In windows after choosing create a new VM then other OS, other 64bit you don’t get a choice of images to open.
If you choose “Open a virtual machine” the chr-6.34rc16.vmdk isn’t recognized as a known file type. Choosing all files the file gives an error message “VMX file is corrupt”. I’ve tried other CHR versions and they are all the same.
I’ve tested the VMware Player by creating a new VM and using the Mikrotik x86 ISO for 6.34rc16 and this installs itself and runs fine. For VM nubes, like me - I used setup in the Mikrotik console of the VM once it had completed the install and added an IP address to ether1. Then in the VM manager bridged the Mikrotik ether1 with the PCs ethernet interface.
