I have an RB2011uias-2hnd and a rb4011igs+5hacq2hnd connected together via cat6. The ethernet ports which are linking them together as well as all 3 of the wlan devices are in one bridge getting DHCP and internet from the RB2011. All 3 wlan devices (2x atheros AR9300 and 1x QCA9984) are in ap bridge mode and all have the same SSID and key.
In general this is working and all devices in my house can get internet from either of the APs. I can set up chromecast using google home from my phone even when they are connected to different APs. I can see the chromecast available to cast to from any device.. but when I try to cast it fails every time.. it tries for a minute or two then says something like “could not connect to selected device”.
If I disable the two wlan devices on the RB4011 to force everything to connect to the RB2011 then it works.. but if the casting device (phone/tablet) and chromecast are connected to different APs then I have this issue. Should what I’m trying to do work or is having 3 APs with the same SSID going to cause problems? It doesn’t seem to cause a problem for anything other than the chromecast. Based on what I found in some other threads with similar issues, ‘default forward’ enabled means that wifi clients are allowed to communicate, and that is enabled on all 3 APs.
Any ideas?
Here’s my wifi and bridge configs (wifi on the RB4011 currently disabled):
