Client reconnects severals times per minute

I have just replaced an old ap-1000 with a RB532 with an SR2 running in 802.11b mode only. and all the clients connected up just fine, except one continuously resets the connection. I have tried various frequencies, and various power settings after searching through the forums, I have also replaced the customers equipment. Sometimes they connect for 10 seconds, but if i reset the AP it seems to last longer. other times, seems like it will stay running for several hours.

Customers signal is usually -76 and SNR is around 22 give or take.
Customer equipment is a CB3 200mw in a 14dbi Rootenna

Tower Antenna is an OMNI 12dbi
SR2 is set to 802.11b default power right now, although i have tried other settings, including fixed rate (I read another post that said that might help)

Also when the customer begins to “Freak out”, as we have begun referring to it, they disconnect and reconnect over and over, and always show a signal of -95 with an SNR of 2db

I suspect some kind of interference on the customer premise, but would like to hear the opinions and guesses of others…

No other customer is experiencing this off any of the other towers with the same setup.

We are going to go out tomorrow and try a different setup of CPE equipment and see how it goes.

Here is some log entries showing the behavior:

If you all have any suggestions, I would appreciate them greatly!

Does the customer actually go down? Are they complaining about intermitant service? The reason I ask, is because I notice this happenning sometimes with a few clients. But oddly, it only seems to happen when the connection is idle. Although, it is annoying seeing the logs cluttered with this stuff.

If the customer is really going down during production usage, you might check out the firmware on the CB3’s. I’ve seen that come up on the forums a few times. Seems like there were a few questionable batches that were released.

Eric

install 2.9.17 that helps - we had a problem like this - is working now without problems…

So it means that your clients are working now without problems after we made some workaround?

ericsooter,
Yes the client does complain.. A LOT! HA! so they must be resetting on thier end, or something..
I will check the firmware on the client, that is a good one, I hadn’t heard that yet. Thanks for the tip!

odie, unfotunately, we are already running 2.9.17, and i don’t really feel this is a Mikrotik OS problem, as much as either a client issue, or a RouterOS config problem on my part. We have about 20 other clients on this same tower, with the same equipment, without any issues at all.

Is it possible that your troublesome client has got the BSSID (MAC) of the old AP in his client CPE? I’ve seen this kind of behavior when APs are changed and the BSSID is different.

I wondered this as well, and reset the client eqiupment to default settings, then reprogrammed it.. but it still has the same issue unfortunately.
It is very odd problem,
right now, the client shows that they have been on for 4 hours. and this might last for as much as a day, then it just starts freaking out again. for several hours/days. until something makes it happy again.

Well, I updated the firmware on the cb3, and things are looking promising so far… it has stayed online for most of the day now. we’ll see how long it lasts
