This is close distance, so any card should work. I just wouldn’t use these MSI cards, I don’t have good experience from Asus WiFi cards, so I don’t recommend card from motherboard manufacturers, just stick to network equipment manufacturers. I have good experience with TP-Link cards.
It is close distance, any card should do, but… I would strongly recomend using an ethernet wireless bridge instead of a pci or USB card, you get much more flexibiliti and reliability from an ethernet wireless bridge, something like a:
linksys wrt54g or a
wap54g, or an
exterasys wap 253 wap 254,
or any bridge based on the Realtek 8186 chipset (these are the cheapest ones and have good performance)
This way if you requiere LOS (Line of sigth) you just run a long UTP cable with power/ethernet, place the ethernet wireless bridge inside an exterior casing (you can make this out of 8 inch PVC tube and 2 PVC caps)
and you have your selfe an afordable and reliable outdoor antena
I want to use cards because the clients are soo close to the tower , and the installation in the client home will be more " clear ", only put the card in the pc and is running, so no cables, no holes in the wall or anything else.
Ok dude, your call, if you whant to go with the cards that’s fine, but make a test first, get a lap-top or a cpu with a card allredy installed and configured and check if you get a good link, if you get a good link… Congrat’s¡¡¡ but if you are not satisfied with the performance, get the ethernet wireless bridge.
We also using T-link in some of our clients that is as far as 1km
but i use a pigtail and a 13dbi flatpanel anntenna or for the close one
a 8dbi flatpanel

no5 using a planet pci with a 13dbi with pigtail and 4m lm400 cable
Thanks , this afternoon i will try whit 2 cards ( Next and DWL 520 ) , if i the link was no good , will trie whit flats panel , or in the worst case i will use a bridge whit and external antenna.
With d-link cards, I have had …well… let’s say various results.
Some of them died, some are performing very well. In both 2.4 and 5 ghz.
It seems that 5 ghz it’s a sensible subject on d-link cards. They just act strangely.
