Clients get slow download and fast upload on rb532r5

Hi,

I have set up a rb532 with r52h in AP bridge mode, and created a bridge between the card and the lan.
In our lab we have a 20Mb down /15Mb up fibre internet connection.

When I connect with my laptop using intel 3945 or with a proxim card and do a “spedometer” test, I get 2Mbit down, and 15Mbit up.
I have tried with 2 different RB532, and 2 different r52h. I have also tried it with the brand new RB600. This gives the same result.
I am using a 18dbi antenna.

There are no queues, encryption, or access lists. rb532 runs on 2.9.50, rb600 on 3rc10

YOU ARE OVERDRIVING THE WIRELESS CARD IN YOUR LAPTOP

turn the output power down to 5db

I was fearing geting a lame answer like this when I said I was using a 18dbi antenna

I have already tried to set the power down to 3db, and I have tried from a good distance from the AP.
The problem is still the same.

I have some more to add. If I run btest from my computer to the ap, I get good speed both ways >20Mbit. This Utilizes the wlan and the bridge interface.

was not meaning to be lame or rude. Try pointing the antenna the other direction. You still could be overdriving.

What are you speed testing on? Backbone, and site?

You where right. I turned the TX power down to 2db, and got much more speed.
How do I set the optimal tx power on our systems. We are using 15dBi omni antennas on r52h cards.
