Cloud Router Switch 210-8G-2S+IN question!

Hi all,

I’m having a ISP with 2gbps network and will like to do some testing to maximize the 2gbps speed on my PC.

Setup is: ONT > 210-8G-2S+IN (SFP+) > my PC w/ HP 560SFP+ NIC..

  1. Is it possible to use a HP SFP+ 10G SR module on the Cloud Router Switch 210-8G-2S+IN? Im not sure the compatibility for the module and the switch.
  2. Is my setup doable? I understand that this is a L3 switch should by right it can be direct plug to the ONT.

Any idea?

This product cannot run anywhere near 1 or even 2 Gbit when routing! (L3)
It is a switch with a management processor that they put some routing code in should you have some
small routing requirements. It can do the switching at high speed but not the routing.
This is the same for all CRS devices.

Any idea what will be the best hardware to achieve around 2gbps?

CCR1009 (only, routing, not switching)

I agree. The CCR1009 has 4 switched ports (1-4) and 4 single ports, plus one or two SFP ports
depending on model. When you want to pull 2Gbps you will need to have local networks on
several ports (where 1-4 count as 1) each doing 1Gbps. I would recommend separate networks
without bridges. Of course it is not possible to have that traffic to 1 PC.
(not counting methods to combine multiple ethernet links)

Thanks all for the advise.. I was looking at MikroTik Cloud Core Router CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+PC ..

What i understand:

ONT (2x ports)> CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+PC (2x ports)> PC with dual 1gbps NIC card.

But can’t i just use:

ONT (2x ports)> CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+PC (1x SFP+ w/ module) > PC with SFP+ NIC card w/ module?

I dont expect to have full 2gbps but at least 1.8gbps? Please do teach me as i know nothing much on networking. Any guidance will be much appreciated!
