Cloud Router Switch issue

Hi All,

We just got in one of the 24 port Cloud Router Switches and ran into this issue that maybe someone can shed some light on. Once it started up, I noticed that it had the default .88.1 router config on it, so instead of removing the configuration, I just accepted it and went in and deleted all the items from the following areas:

DHCP
IP Firewall / NAT

and then I changed the IP Address to a 100.x address. Everything worked great until the network admin took it down to the data center and installed it. Everything seemed to be ok until he decided to plug into port 1 of the switch. So he gave me a call and I thought… “Oh I know what that is…” So I jumped into winbox and assigned the port 1 to have a master of ether2. Bam, it started working. However, he power cycled the unit and from that point forward it would not go past the “starting services…” message.

He brought the unit back and I played with it and was able to reproduce the problem every time by the assignment of a master port on port 1.

I decided to reset the configuration and not allow a default to be put back on and everything works exactly as expected after I went in and set all the ports to have a master of port 1.

Any ideas on why this is happening? Is it a bug?

Cheers!
Ken

Not really sure. Post your whole export. What exactly are you doing with the thing? Personally I have 3 of them in use now and they work well. What I would recommend though is to basically just netinstall it (if it won’t boot) and then wipe out the whole config. Use winbox via Mac address to manually configure it from scratch for what you need. I just like to start that way so I know exactly what is on it.

Give me some details about what your trying to do… I can help you get the config setup.
