CloudCore Router and switching

Hy guys,

I’m kind of confused when it comes to the CloudCore router we got.
All previous version of MikroTik products I owned had the ability to easily create a master and slave port to have switching like capabilities.

I’ve come to understand that this is not the case with the CloudCore router due to the fact that the ports are directly attached to the CPU and there is no switch chip.

However, I can’t imagine that there would be no possibility to get this kind of functionality on such a device? I was thinking bonding might provide a solution, however I’m not sure…

I can’t seem to find any info on this specific topic. The reason why I want this is to save a seperate switch. We need to attach several AP’s for the same network to the router. I’d like to attach them directly to the router instead of using a seperate switch in between.

I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction…

You have to create a bridge and add the ports you want to be in a ‘switch’ to that bridge.

Ah… and just assign one ip to the bridge and none to the ports in the bridge then?
I always saw the bridge as a link to seperate networks… Thanx for the tip! I’ll try it out.

Hello Steven,

perhaps is this something for you?
