In the case or commercial what will be the approximative price?
As Dude seems to be a very great product we would like to plannified the money for this.
We (http://www.FirstmileTelekom.com) have around 15 outdoor only MT Units installed and around 200 MT Indoor units for next month to install.
Hope Dude will be in at least at RC version and with clear commercial policy.
at the moment we plan that there always will be a free version of the Dude for windows. maybe in the future we will introduce some additional features that will not be free, but the main version will be free.
right now it works pretty fine, but has some minor problems. after all it is in Beta. but as dude is a monitoring application only, it can’t screw up your network, so there is no harm using it just to test it.
I tried it…
Yes if you set disc. address to 0.0.0.0/0 it does crash.
I did a discovery on my net here at work just for fun…
ALL network printers lost their minds… (HP jet direct)
Went around and reset them and all is well ..
Will get a newer version and Will try again. Look out Jet directs …
I have had a 802.11b bridge lock up that had been running fine for well over a year whilst running the Dude. I can’t say that it was the cause but it seems a big coincidence.
Problems with HP JetDirect printers losing their minds are supposed to be
fixed now, if that is what you mean by screwing up a network running The
Dude.
Can you please be more specific what kind of hardware and software your
802.11b bridge is running, are you monitoring services on it? If yes then
which ones? Polling intervals? Are you polling interface counters via SNMP?
Maybe your bridge is passing a lot of Dudes traffic? If yes give us some
numbers about number of services monitored, polling intervals.
All this information would really help us resolve such problems as we have not
observed such things by our selves.
