A number of commands like “system routerboard get model” time out with the error “action timed out - try again, if error continues contact MikroTik support and send a supout file (13)”.
If I try to create the supout file, well, that also gives the error.
What does this mean? Is the hardware failing? I’d like to reboot, but not sure that’s safe if there’s some internal fault and the switching stuff is running on autopilot. This is a CRS312-4C+8XG-RM running 6.47.10.

There are no any other reasons for that. I had similar behavior and only NetInstall helped. It’s about flash or file system corruption. I’m sure, MikroTik would advice you to do the same, if you contact their support. 1500 miles is a problem, but if you can arrange L2 connection with BOOT port of your router some way, it should be possible. May be try to ask someone for help, who is close to the router…
CRS312 has only 16MB storage - make sure it is not full. Your symptoms sound very similar to what I experienced when my hAP ac2 got almost out of space.
If you can, delete as many files as you can. If you can’t at least try to restart your device (that might clean some cache) but preferably export your config before you do that (or at least get as many screenshots as you can if export does not work either)
Once you get it kinda-working, I think you could get about 2MB extra by uninstalling the wireless package which might be installed despite the fact there is no wifi interface.
Perhaps this is a clue, but listing files both in inbox and the cli results in… no files being shown.
Anyhow, tonight someone is going to be there in person for a reboot. If it fails, we have a 48 port 1Gb/s switch and we’ll just move things there and then find a more suitable replacement for the Mik.
