As the subject indicates, we are looking for an update on compatibility of the “LTE” interface for a Verizon USB730L USB MODEM. This is the next generation of the U720L and we are thinking it probably just needs to be “activated” in the MikroTik firmware. We have sent a supout.rif file to support but have not heard back.
This is a dump of a working USB620L:

And this is a non-working USB730L:

I am assuming that the device ID just needs to be “enabled” in order to make the LTE modem show up as a device. Is this correct?
We have tried emailing support@mikrotik.com but have not received a response. Can someone advise?
I am pleased to say that we are in receipt of a test build (6.41rc6) which is able to bring up the 730L LTE modem.
Here is the USB device info:

And here is the working LTE interface:

Thank you very much to Mikrotik support!
Does the 730 interface reboot frequently for you?
We’ve never had a reboot that I can find in logs or am aware of, with 6 in production at this time. However, half of the included micro-USB to USB adapters we’ve received with the CCR’s were dead on arrival. I’d recommend trying a different USB cable as a starting point.
A LONG time ago, on a PPP cellular connection, we found Verizon was “rebooting” the card under high data usage. Haven’t seen that in years though.
With the hAP AC & Hex3, it’s a full-size USB port but the interface goes link down every 60 seconds.
It doesn’t lose power as the lights are green.
I am assuming you set DHCP Client on the Interface right?
When I connect it to my PC it never goes down.
I see.
This is probably a stupid question, but do you have “auto connect” enabled on the device? There is a web interface on the 730 that you can access via plugging it into your PC. I think the URL is http://myusb or http://my.usb when you are connected via the 730. Auto-connect is an option you can set in the web browser.
Not sure what to tell you otherwise. Is Verizon your carrier? Signal levels OK?
I have auto-connect set and the signal levels are great. So this is interesting.
I got a error message that says unknown modem at the same time the connection drops. Have you still on RC6 ?
It looks like we’re operating 6.41rc28. The modem stays online well from what we can tell current uptime on the LTE interface is 3 days.

That’s what I get in the logs every time it goes down.
Still the same issue with 6.41rc38
I’m having the same issue. Bumping to see if anyone found a resolution. Attached is a screeshot of my logs, RB 6.41, Hex PoE, USB750 Modem
Hello, can anyone update this post with their latest results? 6.42.3 is out now, does this device work well with the latest stable release? We’re having major issues with our ISP dragging their feet in migrating our Internet uplink circuit to a new office location. So, if the 730L is proven to work, this would be an excellent solution for us to use while our ISP get their act together.
We are having the same issue the lte interface drops about 60 seconds even on the latest release.
Any updates on this? I am having the same issue. - Thanks
Having the same problem with the 730L disconnecting and rebooting after a minute.
Hex POE running 6.43rc44
Hi,
i am using a RB951G-2HnD firmware 6.42.7 with a Verizon USB370L,
The device is NOT showing up as an LTE interface. it is showing up as a disabled ppp interface. Device ID under usb is showing as 0x9031.
any ideas?
tx!
Did anything ever happen with this?
I’m looking for a device to use as a backup Internet connection.
Verizon hands-down has the best coverage here…
Unfortunately the USB modems were always flaky. Never narrowed down precisely why.
Good news, though. You can take an activated Verizon SIM card and pop it in one of these SXT LTE kit-US:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D6MGY7K/
That SXT LTE kit will provide fantastic 4G LTE service in the US on Verizon’s network. Bonus that it’s not flaky AT ALL like the USB modems were.
