So I have finished optimizing my queues and whatnot and decided to use the router in our network. All the computers can connect properly to the internet and the queues/prioritization rules are working. However, the computers in the same network (LAN) can’t “see” each other. Can’t access shared drives, can’t ping etc, but when I use my cheapo Asus router it’s working properly – shared drives can be accessed, computers can ping each other, users can invite each other on LAN games etc.
Does anyone have an idea what I could do to make it work? I tried turning off the firewall, disabling my queues and even resetting the router but still the same problem.
That is not default behavior, so you would have to assume:
You set it up this way (it can be done, useful for non trusted wifi networks)
You have some problem.
You have some other device causing this.
Are these devices directly attached to the router? What device is there in between?
Start from the basics. tcpdump or wireshark the network to see what you can see from one machine when trying to ping another. Look at the arp table, etc.
Might be worth doing an /export hide-sensitive and posting it here.
Might also be worth wiping the router using the reset button and trying again if you haven’t done that.
We will need to see your Bridge, Filter, and NAT config at the minimum to understand what is going on.
From the sounds of it, you are filtering on the bridge or have separate subnets and not routing between them.
For LAN devices not to be able to ping each other, then they either are not on the same segment (different ports on the router, not in a bridge?) or they do not have the same subnet.
