Config restore

Hi All,

I recenty bought a MikroTik RB2011 and i managed to configure the router, took me a while but I managed.
I made a back-up of the config on the device and copied that file to my laptop.

after making the back-up I secured the device with password on the admin account, (the password was generated by keepass)

Yesterday my laptop crashed and after reinstalling all my software I discovered that my keepass & config backup was not synchronized to my cloud storage.
conclusion, I am locked out of my router.

The config is still stored on the files section of the routerboard, question is: will this back-up file still be there if I do a reset of the router or will it completely wipe all the storage?
If I can’t restore the config, I’ll have to rebuild the config and will take me some time again.

Thanks in advance

Looks like you have no choice - reset the router.

From my experience, resetting Mikrotik router does not wipe internal storage.

Hi erkexzcx,

Thanks for your reply, I’m pretty sure I will have to reset my Mikrotik.

I think I’ll try to rebuild the config before resetting, in case the internal storage gets wiped and I’ll have to start over.
