Can I backup configuration from Routerboard 600A (Router OS 3.10/ 3 UTP ports) and restore it on routerboard 1000 ( don’t know which router OS yet/ 4 UTP ports)?
Thanks in advance ![]()

I suggest you to “export” instead, as this will produce a text file that you can edit to change interface names etc. “backup” file basically can be restored only on the same device
Thanks. I will try that. Is there any other way?
Can the global /export file be imported directly on a fresh system?
If I’ve created a new complete config export file that I want to upload and put into production on a remote system, how do I tell the remote system in one step to clear it’s config and load a new?
Or if I have scheduled daily exports of the config, and some day run into problems and wishes to roll back to previous known-working config, I must be able to easily load the export file from scratch, not as an append to the currently running config.

What?! So how do I restore my backups to a replacement router when my primary router has broken down? Can’t you even restore a backup to a system with the same kind of RouterBoard?
I mean, if I have a RB1000 system I must be able to make config backups that can easily be restored into a replacement router, right?
