Configure vlans to use bridge

Hello forum,

I am chasing down a performance issue I am facing when running an iperf test from a client connected to a CRS305-1G-4S+ switch at 10G to a server across the internet. I see speeds of 16-20 MBytes per second. Going to a 1GB connection to my Netgear JGS516PE, I see speeds of 40-50 MBytes per second.

The CRS305-1G-4S+ 10G switch connects using the eth/mgmt port as an uplink to my Netgear JGS516PE. One port from the Netgear switch acting as a trunk port connects to ether3 on my RB4011iGS+.

How can I configure a bridge and connect ports ether3 and sfp-sfpplus1 on the RB4011iGS+ so that both ports on the router are trunk ports? Second, how can I configure vlan’s on CRS305-1G-4S+? Do I need to be in RouterOS mode for that? Or should I explore getting an sfp ethernet adapter and use an available sfp port instead of the eth/mgmt port on CRS305-1G-4S+.

Ether1 on CRS305 is mgmt port and should be used only for that purpose only !!!

Look at the block diagram: https://i.mt.lv/cdn/product_files/CRS305-1G-4S_220955.png

I would advise you to use Router OS for configuration.

Not really. It’s a regular 1G port. You can use it for what you want.
Look at the block diagram, indeed

Yea, indeed… It was too early… But still, use Router OS, you will have much more information on what is happening.

Can’t argue there.
