Configuring Metal 2shpn for Wireless LAN

Hey all,

I bought the Metal 2 to setup a secure network between a computer (connected to the ethernet port) and several wireless devices (iPhones, Android phones, iPad, and Apple computers mainly). This won’t be connected to the internet, and computers will be `150’ apart at times.

How do I need to configure it to set this up? I think what I’m trying to configure is a switch, with wireless and ethernet ports both? Learning networking as fast as I can, but much of the manual is still over my head and I need it this week. Any help is appreciated!

Remove config.
Set wifi in Ap bridge mode with regulatory domain and correct antenna gain.
Put wlan and ether into common bridge.

Hello
metal 2 should config in mode ap bridge and band 2 and set ssid and Security Profile then add bridge and add ether1 and wlan1 into it

Alright, I removed the default config and reconfigured to AP Bridge in Wireless settings, then created a bridge, but when I add the wan port it says it’s disabled. I’m pretty confident I set the rest up correctly, and checked against other tutorials, what am I missing here?

So I don’t come across as lazy and trying to get the forum to do all the work, I’ve been reading and trying to figure this out all day, but no luck.

disabled port in bridge is not a problem. It will be enabled once goes up, and it will be once first client get connected to it.
Just make sure you are able to connect by client (security profile and other parameters correctly set at wlan interface).

To followup, I finally managed to get this all working well, but have a question about what ended up being the solution. I used Quickset to config a Home AP, but when I went and bridged the ether1 and wan1 ports the configuration in Quickset changed to Wisp AP, and that’s the only way it would let me bridge the two ports. Why is this?

Actually you can bridge whatever ports you have. Just do not touch quickset at all and set everything outside the quickset manually. At least you will know what is really set and how.

Yeah, I was just curious why the “Home AP” confit wouldn’t let me bridge the two ports without reconfiguring itself as a “Wisp AP”.

Because of quickset…
