Pretty new to Mikrotik’s. I have an RB951G-2HnD and have set a few of them up no problems to connect to fibre networks.
We have a new customer that’s on a different ISP and we can’t get it to connect. The ISP have advised that we need to change the setting on any 3rd party router to: vlan encapsulation 10
Can someone direct me as to how I do this on these beasts? And what is it set to by default generally? is this a common thing we should be aware of for other ISP’s if anyone knows?
In WinBox, under interfaces, click the ISP interface (eg. eth1), and press Add->VLAN. Name interface (eg. eth1-vlan10), set VLAN ID to 10. Now update all configuration that has ‘eth1’ with ‘eth1-vlan10’. IP address, DHCP client, firewall, nat etc etc.
Make sure to remove IP address from original interface ‘eth1’.
