Hi
I have a very basic setup of a hotspot using mikrotik. The setup is as follows
adsl-modem---->mikrotik<-----accesspoint
adsl modem is connected to port 1 of mikrotik with subnet 192.168.1.x (WAN network)
AP is connected on port 2 with subnet 10.88.1.x (hotspot network)
Hotspot is set on port 2
When i start configuring the router i did a system configuration reset without any default configuration..hence the routerboard was configured from scratch.
Everything works as expected however my problem is that devices reside on the WAN network are not working properly. For instance, if connect my laptop to the adsl/modem wifi network i cant get an ip address despite the fact that dhcp is enabled on the adsl-modem.
Still if i add a static ip address then i still cant connect to the internet…again i am refering to the WAN subnet not the hotspot.
Is there any special configuration that must be performed on a wan port on the router board?
Could this be happening because i reset the routerboard without default config which in that case i erased the default WAN port 1?
Any help would be much appriciated.
Thanks
