Confused about QuickSet

I will be receiving my Mikrotik router this evening. I was thinking I could use QuickSet to do most of the setup, and then change/add the settings I need for what QuickSet doesn’t cover. However, the manual has the following:

How is Quickset different from the Webfig tab, where a whole bunch of new menus appear?
If you need more options, do not use any Quickset settings at all, click on “Webfig” to open the advanced configuration interface. The full functionality is unlocked.

Can I use Quickset and Webfig together?
While settings that are not conflicting can be configured this way, it is not recommended to mix up these menus. If you are going to use Quickset, use only Quickset and vice versa.

Am I really not supposed to use QuickSet at all if I plan to make changes after using QuickSet? I understand I don’t want to use QuickSet anymore after making my custom changes, but I’d be surprised if I at least can’t use it for the initial setup.

You can safely switch to full-featured configuration tools after using QuickSet, but not the other way round.

I.e. there’s nothing wrong in using QuickSet to do the initial configuration and then switching to a full-featured WebFig/WinBox/Console. However once you do any kind of configuration changes outside of QuickSet you can no longer use QuickSet safely.

Excellent, that’s exactly what I was hoping to do. Thanks!

We will improve the wording of the manual. The QuickSet should be done for initial configuration only. Whether you stay with initial configuration, or move up to Webfig full features is up to you.
