Is it possible to specify the MAC address of the AP to which the Mikrotik connects? I’m using a hotel network where there are many AP’s with the same SSID. I’ve identified the best/closest one to connect to, but occasionally my Mikrotik mAP doesn’t connect to the AP with the strongest signal.
Is it possible to ‘lock’ it to just one AP identified by MAC address?
Sorry to bump an old thread. I’m in the same boat, but with a hapax2 which uses the new wave2 driver.
How can this same functionality be achieved with the wave2 config?
You can’t because the menu doesn’t exist. Mesh options, etc. are still missing. But what you can do is allow connecting through ACCESS LIST to that MAC and deny the rest
Thanks
Yeah there are so many strange options in wifi menu compared to the simpler (but actually useful) parameters in previous generation wireless package, and yet this simple function is missing. It’s really strange.
I tried blocking with ACCESS LIST and it didn’t seem to work? It seems to only be effective for AP mode. But perhaps I did something wrong, I will play with it some more and try again
I have no devices available to test. But that way of cheating on the new menu worked for me at a Cap Ac. Maybe it doesn’t work on everyone. That incomplete menu is driving everyone crazy. I had my junior install all the new Hap Ac2s with the wifi-qcom-ac driver, and today I told him to reinstall the wireless package… he looked at me dirty
