I am attempting to hook up a hEX (RB750Gr3). The instructions indicate that it will take the IP address of https://192.168.88.1. I am attempting to configure it via another router whose address pool is 192.168.0.x. I am doing this because it’s a hassle to get my ISP to switch over hardware and I’d like to do as much configuration on the device as I can beforehand to minimize downtime. The instructions lead me to believe that the only way I can accomplish this is by connecting directly to the unit via Ethernet and using the MAC address, is that correct? Or is there some other way I’m not thinking of?
The router automatically is setup to work with default setting and all ports are on the bridge.
What I typically do is take the last port often port 5,
and take it oFF the bridge and give it its own IP address
192.168.50.2 network 192.168.50.0 interface etherport 5
Then I can access it via my laptop by manually putting an IP on the laptop 192.168.50.5 for example and changes to the bridge that could possible lock you out can be avoided.
Its like an emergency access.
You have to add etherport 5 as a LAN interface on the interface members list.
