I have been trying for some time to figure out how to solve this issue and am really stumped. Makes me feel like a beginner again so I hope I am posting in the right section.
I have been using my MikroTik router for years and have always connected to the internet through an interface such as ether3 that has a PPPoE-Out and a VLAN ID configured; as is standard with ISP’s in my country. This has always worked well and I have, at times, had multiple connections to multiple ISP’s at the same time with no issues.
However I recently decided to move to a managed internet connection with my ISP so that my company could have a 4g modem that the connection would fail over to in case of an outage with the fibre. The way the ISP wants to achieve this (and normally does for their other clients) is by installing a Juniper router in my data centre that connects to the ONT and the 4g modem through two Ethernet ports. I then connect my MikroTik router to a port on their router and we tried to configure my router like so:
Interface List: ether1 (enabled)
Address List: Address 111.69.10.209/31; Network: 111.69.10.208; Interface: ether1 (the logic here being that the ether1 port is on the same subnet with their router who has the IP 111.69.10.208)
Routes: A rule was automatically created but we also tried to create our own, regardless traffic was not flowing.
They said this is normally all that is required to get it working for them. We tried figuring it out together with their technicians for a few hours but couldn’t come up with anything. Hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction.
