Connecting two sector antennas to one RB/711

Hi Guys,

I think i’ve made a small mistake ordering the wrong stuff, but I was wondering if I can make it work..

I’m building a low speed wireless network for an open terrain, so i ordered the RB/711 and two Sector antennas (http://shop.meconet.de/Antennas-Accessories/2-4-GHz-ISM/WLAN/Sector-Antennas/12dBi-dual-polarized-Sector-120-GRAD-RP-SMA-fe-SECM2120::115598.html)

The problem with the antennas is that they are dual polarized, so i have a H and a V. Is there a way to connect these antennas using only one cable? I need chain0 for panel 1, and chain1 for panel 2. I will only be using 802.11B and G, no N. What changes do I have to make to the default config of the routerboard to make this work?

Can anybody please help me?

Hi,

You can connect the antenna port of routerboard to any one of the polarized antenna port. It should work fine.

Use H port of one antenna and V port of another if you want or use H port of both. the last option will help you use both the antennas to cover a wide horizontal range.

You will lose on the MIMO capability this way but save on your antenna investment.

Are you going to use B or G ?.. These antennas are for 5 GHz… You need 2,4 GHz antennas → http://www.wireless-instruments.com/en/produkty/8/antennas-24ghz/single-polarity/sector.html .

You need to buy another antennas… that’s a point for b/g standard.
