Connection of mikrotik behind a Huawei modem in bridge

Hi,

I tried to connect mikrotik behind a Huawei modem in bridgemode.
On DHCP IP client mode of mikrotik it appear as 192.168.1.0/30 Lan . usually I used to have /24.
What does 30 mean.? The gateway is not the default 192.168.1.1 setup on Huawei modem but is in DHCP automatically set up as 192.168.1.4 and I can not change. Whats the reason of that.?

When connected with these settings connection drop after 3 5 seconds .. what could be the problem? I have same problem using DMZ

Does a modem in Bridge mode still provide dhcp server services ? Am not sure about that… Its a modem, not a router anymore…
You should be using a tunnel with your provider…
/30 CIDR means a total of 4 addresses. 192.168.1.0 is your Network address, 192.168.1.3 is your Broadcast address and 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2 are the usable addresses for hosts…
What is the IP mikrotik obtains from your Modem ?

Thanks for reply..

It’s a Huawei LTE modem router I setup bridge mode and disabled its DHCP functions.
On mikrotik under addresses I have the ISP connection IP

10.146.102.6/30 on network IP 10.146.102.4

On routes with same settings (gateway 10.146.102.4) say gateway unreachable

10.146.102.4 is a network address. You can not set it as a gateway IP.
My question is, why did you add that address in your IP list ?
Did your provider gave you this IP ? Is your LTE modem in that range ?
What is the IP of your LTE modem ?

In bridge mode mode it gives directly the provider IP I think
The modem IP is 192.168.88.1

As i said earlier, since you are in Bridge mode, i dont think your router has routing capabilities anymore…
But you confused me with the 10.146.x.z/30 address…
Also you said you disabled DHCP, although i think it does make no sense in bridge mode, but anyways…
So, since your modem is in Bridge Mode, no DHCP, why did you manually add the 10.146.x.y/z ?
Who gave you that address ?
Where is that address assigned ?
Why did you turn your router in Bridge mode ?

I did not add manually it appears under address automatically ..I add manually under routes setting only

No way that happens… Since your modem is in Bridge mode the DHCP server is off… so no way it is added dynamically…
Does that IP have a “D” flag in front of it ?
Also in your first post you mention different addresses…

I did a mikrotik router reset and try to start from the begin maybe there were bad settings. now there is not any wan address.. DHCP on modem/router went off when I set bridge mode. Now I don’t find a way to see the modem on wan port ..

That is correct…
So unless you can use a tunnel between you and your provider the Bridge mode must be removed…

So, because i guess no tunnel is used, return your ISP modem in routing mode and enable DHCP on your eth1 port…

I reset .. give fixed ip to mikrotik and set it as dmz in modemrouter.. It worked for while and seems fine.. I did 4 Okla test then connection to internet drop while I can access by wan to modem/router interface and modem is connected to provider

Why dont you just enable dhcp client on eth1?
Did you turn your ISP modem in routing mode ?

I enabled dhcp client and modem is set as router using DMZ option on a fixed ip given to mikrotik

Does it work ?

Now it works but i am not able to add static dns else connection continue to drop and another problem is about speed.
I do not know why but if I connect directly to pc I have around 50mbps while trought mikrotik router I am limited to around 24mbps.

Unfortunately connection drop again ..i looked to logs and the start of the connection drop is linked to a wan /dhclient connection lost . Is as if wan lost connection also for a second then when it is connected again to DHCP client is not able to renew or modem/router block .

Hi, I think I found problem..is not software related but it’s about Lan ports of Huawei router .. each of 4 Lan ports give a different result ..lan1 connect by slow and with some drops Lan 3 and 2 seems good with full speed..lan4 same as lan1.
