Connection Refused MT 2.9.41

I have a 1 gig VIA board with 256 meg RAM, and 6 ethers, 2 on-board and a 4 port card. All in a 1U case. its been running fine for 18 weeks or so, then today, I starting getting a “connection refused” message when attempting to telnet to it. The web server was not responding, could not winbox, or telnet into the unit. SSH and FTP are turned off.

I tried from both the external and internal networks, did not help.

I ended up having to drive to the customer site, and turn on the monitor, I had a login screen so attempted to login, once it took the password it hung. Ended up haveing to power off the router and then back on. Since then, no issues?

All the NAT rules in the box, was still working, I could get to servers on the inside of the nat and firewall etc. I could NOT login to the box by browsing, WINBOX, TELNET, from either eithernet port or subnets. I also could not authen using L2TP or PPTP, so the remote sites that are off this was not connected as well.

Did you tried serial console? Have you changed any firewall rule or …
Try MikroTik neighbor also. If you’re using Motherboard with VGA, PS/2 try to use monitor and keyboard.

I have tried the following:

  1. Telnet from PUBLIC interface
  2. Telnet from Private interface
  3. Winbox via mac
  4. Winbox via IP both public/Private interfaces
  5. I have a console, I get the login screen, I type the admin username/password, and then nothing, it just locks up. If I wait a while, it may come back to the login screen.
