I have obtained Bandwidth from a network provider and I would like some advice for the best way to connect to them. They suggest a public /30 to connect there router to our Mikrotik core Router and then give us a /27 for downstream to start with, is this the best way to do it?
The following is their email description of what they intend, please advice
Since it sounds like your customer base is pretty small to start with,
I’ll assign you a /30 for the router-to-router connection, and allocate
You a /27 for the inside with your customers. A /27 is still pretty
Small for your customers, so I’ll reserve you another /27 of contiguous
Space, so if you break 30 customers before you get your ARIN allocation,
We can move you up to a /26 without having to readdress.
Your help is greatly appreciated thanks
It could be!
Give me your Idea for your Network Topology… How do u thing it will look like after a certain period of time… ?
For a start, that would be a good deal… but not the best if you are planning to develop your network fast!
We plan to use DHCP for all standard subscribers downstream. We have no LOS or noise problems in a heavily populated area so our growth will be rapid. The plan at this time is to use DMA Softlab for authentication and place this box behind Core router will this be an issue with this proposed public IP scheme?
In your opinion what would be better?
Thanks for you advice.

Dont involve DHCP … its a service, not a solution!

What I get from your Info is that you are planing to build Hotspot System ( probably on Wireless… cause u mentioned “noise”) and planing to use DMA… as a Radius Server and Billing System ?
Have I gotten the right picture ?
