Connectivity issues with L11UG-5HaxD and RF Elements Horn - Authentication Timeout / Reason Code 3

Hi everyone,

I’m having some trouble with a MikroTik L11UG-5HaxD BTS connected to an RF Elements 90° Horn antenna.

I’ve tried connecting both AX clients (LHG XL AX) and AC clients (using the new wifi-qcom drivers), but the result is always the same. At a distance of approximately 5 km, I consistently get the following error messages:

  • "disconnecting, authentication timeout(1), signal -75"

  • "disconnected, reason code 3, signal -75"

Here is what I’ve already tried:

  • Set the frequency to 5GHz a/n only.

  • Tested with 20/40 MHz channel widths.

  • Switched between WPA2-PSK and WPA3 with CCMP encryption.

  • Both the BTS and clients are running firmware v7.22.1.

Despite these changes, the issue persists. Does anyone have any suggestions or insights on what might be causing this?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Did you set distance in configuration profile (or configuration.distance property on interface)? IIRC default is good for up to 2km distances (or perhaps s bit longer). See description in official docs. Manual says that property is ignored in wifi-qcom-ac driver ...
