Constantly 'poe-status: power_reset' in hEX PoE

Hello,

I have troubles with powering a brand new camera with hEX PoE RB960PGS.
The led blinks with red and I constantly get theses messages in the logs:

poe-out info: ether5 detected poe-out status: wait_for_load
poe-out info: ether5 detected poe-out status: on
poe-out warning: ether5 detected poe-out status: power_reset
poe-out info: ether5 detected poe-out status: wait_for_load
poe-out info: ether5 detected poe-out status: on
poe-out warning: ether5 detected poe-out status: power_reset

The PD complies with IEEE 802.3af and draws max. 3W at 24V. Currently I have no other means to check if the camera or router is at fault (this happens for all 4 PoE ports and various eth cables). Any ideas what could be wrong?

thanks!
jacx

802.3af/at and 24V don’t go together. If you want to power an af/at PD, then you need a 48V power supply for RB960PGS. RB doesn’t convert voltages, only passes whatever it receives from power adapter … and don’t start another round of questions about why hEX PoE ships with 24V as standard, there are valid reasons for that.

I wrote 3w at 24v to state PD power consumption over DC input.

As I found out somewhere else, the reason they ship hEX pOE with 24V supply is to support passive PoE (which does not work with 48V power supply).

Thank you for your help.

As a matter of fact passive PoE does work with 48V power supply. It’s that many (older) Mikrotik devices don’t support supply voltages above around 30V, hence supplied power adapter of 24 volts (almost all MT devices can take 24V supply voltage). Obviously MT is not (yet) deeply into 802.3af/at PoE, but things do seem to be moving in that direction.
