I have a 2.5 years old daughter and she is obsessed in iPad’s online cartoon app. I promise her to allow her watching iPad for 30min/day.
My wife always extends my daughter’s iPad time once my little girl begs. So I need to implement this idea in mikrotik. My idea is to set dhcp lease time to 1 min or even 30s, and use a script to allow the iPad review 30 times each day, the problem is I have no idea how to write this script.
I’m wondering anyone has implemented this idea in mikrotik. Any hint will help.
This kid control feature does not always work, instead, I can add filter rules and simple queues manually. The problem is the filter rules and queues only limit access based on time, but the time period. My little girl is pretty unpredictable, and this time control strategy pisses my wife when my daughter cries for iPad but mikrotik refuses.
The only “script” you’d possibly need is a CD set to loop saying no
In any case, use ScreenTime. If they know the password, change it. Simple and no need to be jerking around with Kid Control, or the router at all, for that matter.
since ipads are only wireless I use plume pods to act as my wireless ap’s they have in depth time and user controls for each and every piece of equipment that connects as well as multiple levels of access to the same network. Not promoting, just suggesting something I know that works. Also I don’t recommend plume as a router just an AP.
