I prepaid a L5/P6 Licence and the page titled “Convert prepaid key to licence key” https://mikrotik.com/client/keyPrepaid requires a Software ID in order to generate the license key. What is a Software ID and when can I find it in order to generate the licence key? Thank you
system/license/print
in a terminal.
Or system → license in Winbox.
This license is for a baremetal X86 installation. Should I first install the X86 RouterOS and then get the Software ID after the installation in order to generate the licence key?
You omitted that little detail from your initial post. Don’t quote me on it but yes, I believe you will have to do that in order to generate the software id needed to create the key. Perhaps someone smarter than me can confirm or deny.
To license the X86 installation, I click on System, License and there are 4 options (Paste Key, Import Key, Export Key and Update License Key).
- The option Paste Key doesn’t ask to paste the key but instead asks me to “Confirm Reboot”.
- The upload license key option requires me to upload a .key file. I have not been able to find the .key file in my account on the Mikrotik site.
- The option Update License Key does nothing even though it’s connected to the Internet.
Where can I find the .key file or how can I paste the key?
Thank you,
I don’t remember ever seeing any product implementing the PASTE option as it’s done in Mikrotik. I expected to see the key appearing in a field somewhere instead of being asked to rebook the router.
My X86 box is now functional and now I only need to copy the configuration from the old to the new box.
Thanks everyone for your help! Cheers!
