COOVA + Openwrt + Metarouter

We are trying to install CoovaChilli in a Rb433.

In order to do that, we installed Metarouter and its version of Openwrt.

We used RouterOS 3.25 and the image and patch that we download from:
http://www.mikrotik.com/download/openwrt-metarouter-rootfs-1.1.tgz
http://www.mikrotik.com/download/openwrt-metarouter-1.1.patch

Then we installed the Coova.

Evrething worked fine till we reboot the mikrotik. When we reboot it, the files that are in /etc/Chilli and the /etc/init.d/chilli are cut. The last lines of the files are erased!

We made a “workaround” puting a link (ln) to backup files in the reboot, but we would like to know why this is happening and if there is a way to solve this bug.

May be we need to use some other versions…

Thanks!!

Try latest one

Any newer version than 3.25 should fix the problem.

Hi all,

I have a few rb133 routerboards and would prefer to run coovachilli or chillispot on. Anyone know if this is doable? Metarouter is the only option I have seen but it looks to not be supported in RB133.

Any other ideas would be helpful thnaks!

mipsle does noes not support metarouter feature, you need mipsbe board or select ppc (powerpc) board.

Ok thanks for your help, I shall investigate another option, perhaps OpenWrt will work, cheers.

that might be the answer

Hello.
I see that this post is a bit old but I would like to know if someone can help me and give me a clue to how to setup this configuration.

I already instaled the OpenWRT virtual machine using the metarouter and setup the coova chili. I’m using the RB 951Ui 2HnD with 4 ethernet ports + Wlan.

I receive the internet over the eth1 (its using DHCP client) and my clients should connect over the WLAN (they receive ip over DHCP provided by openWRT), when I connect a client he gets the right ipaddress 192.168.120.x and the captive comes up but it doesn’t connect to the internet. If I’m connected over ssh to the openwrt I can get internet.

I think the problem is not the iptables over the openwrt because I use the same configuration in a router that runs physicaly the openWRT

I think the problem might be in the firewall rules and routes, in the mikrotik, between the virtual machine and the physical infrastructure but I can not find out whats wrong. Did someone here get this to work? May you give me some tips?
Thank’s a lot.
