Hi whats the best way to copy the current DHCP pool from one router to another before swapping them
Thanks
In the end I made all IPs static
For next time if you make a backup file and restore that on the new router it will retain dhcp lease information. This method works best when replacing 2 identical models of router. For some reason when you do this from one model to another model it jumbles up all the ethernet ports and mislablels them. It’s all fixable, but annoying.
I am a liitle bit confused…DHCP means DYNAMIC address assigment…wy to clone current leases ?
you clone dynamic leases when you replace a router so that it doesn’t try to assign an IP address to a device when the IP has already been assigned. Fairly standard operating procedure for an IT admin.
