Copying a hAP setup to a hAP ac2

I’ve had a hAP for a while and, because of the faster ethernet and wi-fi, have just got a hAP ac2 to replace it.

Obviously the internals are very different and they need different binaries, but is copying the setup (passwords, static IP allocations etc) simply a matter of saving the config on the hAP and uploading it to the hAP ac2, or do I need to do it all manually?

Manually is the safest way.
Also observe defaults which may be present on the ac2 which may have been different on the older one. Go for the newer settings then.
Don’t copy MAC addresses for bridge or interfaces. They will be filled in by default.

On itself it is not really a big deal, done it plenty of times already.
Create export on hap, make sure all passwds etc are present.
Move file to text editor
Open Winbox / Terminal to new device and make sure you have both visible (split screen or 2 screens)
Copy-paste block by block
You will probably encounter some errors left or right because of naming or already present config but you should be able to spot immediately what the issue is.

5 to 10 minutes max.

Thank you, I did fear that would be the case. Having powered the new one on, I see it’s on RouterOS 7 rather than 6 too, so I wouldn’t have even tried.

A bit longer than five minutes for me
