I have a 532A RouterBoard with V4.4 on it. This unit has been working this way for the past couple of months until one day I logged into Winbox and it said that the license would expire in 24 hours. I tried getting a hold of tech support but it was too late before the time ran out. I have been given a new key but when I try and install it, it keeps saying “could not change the key -invalid key”. I have tried this in Winbox, the new terminal window, and Hyperterminal. If someone could give me a clue on what I might be doing wrong I would really appreciate it. Is it possible the board is damaged for why it is not taking the key? Thank you in advance.
I am reading on how to do that now. I got the key in an email as text. It starts with ---------BEGIN MIKROTIK KEY— and then there are 2 lines of characters and then the same line to end it. Do I make a *.key file and upload that to the ftp server, or do I cut out the -------BEGIN MIKROTIK KEY----- part.
Okay I tried that and the router rebooted and then it seems it lost all of the configurations. I had to use netinstall to get it back up again and it seems the key was still in there. Maybe I will request a new key. I have a new routerBOARD on the way from a supplier but I was hoping to at least salvage this and not have to redo everything every 24 hours.
a this moment, try to install 3.30 that should recognise your old license key, when you do that, create supout.rif file and send it to support@mikrotik.com
when license issue is resolved you will be able to update to 4.4 and use it without problems.
