I would like to know how much data was transferred by every user (per ip, MAC, etc) - is it possible to have some counter like this? Traffic flow is great, but it is realtime, I’d like something like the counter for interfaces, etc.
I know that when i mangle packets, I can see the transferred data counter, but I don’t know if it is ideal to mangle 200 ips for whole DHCP (although there is much less users). Besides, I think that the mangle data counter erases with every turnoff - it would be great to keep this and reset it manually.
if you enable hotspot (no radius) you can create users and watch their bytes-in, bytes-out counters in user tab and active tab!
of course there is the button reset counter to press it any time you want to reset a users counters. or run a script per day or weekly!
Jarda: good point.. although it means to create 200 simple queues (for the whole dhcp range), although the real number of clients will be max 50. Should I expect any performance problems on RB912UAG with 200x simple queue + graphs?
chechito: I am unable to connect to the router, so I need to get the stats from it after some time.. although I am trying to solve some tunnel connection, but I don§t have it yet
freemannnn: I’d love this, this is exactly what I need, but without bothering users with any login pages etc.. I have no experience at all with the hotspot feature, but I found interesting info about walled garden, I’ll give it a try to set hotspot and walled garden for all traffic, and see what it does
I made the hotspot with one admin user, ant set-up walled garden.
Users can connect without password, surf the internet, and I can see their MAC and ip addresses
under the hosts column, even with their TX/RX and Bytes-in, Bytes-Out.. great!!
Unfortunately, there is no info under users and active (there is only the admin user). I can see all connected
devices under hosts, but when they disconnect, they disappear and their stats too.
Is there any way to save the stats without creating the users? Or to use users, but without the need to log in, etc?
Me i have created 60 users and they login once because i am using mac-cookie for 1 month. So they need to login every month. You can set mac-cookie a long time. I dont how much is the max value!
You need an external system to have those statistics saved. Unfortunately. Queues have impact on performance but it can be maybe not noticeable depending on how much do you load the device now. Hard to say… Try it and see.
