Counterfeit CCR1036?

This morning one of my CCR1036-12G-4S stopped working. It wasnt turning on anymore.
I decided to dissassemble it to take a look, and boy was I surprised…
The Power Supply installed looks like one of those U$ 1,00 PSU you can find at Aliexpress,it was also installed very amateurly, using insulating tape, hellerman cable tie and glue.

Is mine CCR for real? Is that PSU the new standard?

Looks like the original PSU died, someone hacked in a new one and resold it.
Where did you purchase it so i can avoid them in the future?

Explaining your source would assist Mtik guys trace the supply chain and do a proper investigation. You probably purchased a used and/or refurbished item.

The original 1036 PSU’s were notoriously bad for blowing capacitors. I know plenty of people who have replaced PSU’s in tthem, or at least put on better capacitors. We personally build an external power source that actually utilises the dual power headers on the board to make them actually dual power.

This one looks like someone replaced the original and re-sold it, unfortunately what they replaced with is likely just as bad. Its definitely a unit that has been opened after sent out from factory. The routerboard itself will be legit, I doubt there’s actual counterfeit routers out there for Mikrotik.

Oddly that is from the same OEM as the original PCB type PSU in the CCR’s.
