Hello to all
I tried different configurations but I couldn’t solve my need. For this I ask the experts for help.
I need to cover a car park with Wi-Fi, using 2 WAP-ACs. The first WAP-AC is connected via ethernet to my network (which hosts the DHCP server) and I would like to use the 5GHZ radio to create a bridge with the other WAP-AP, while the 2.4GHZ radio should allow the connection of the WI-FI clients. Of course on the second WAP-AP the 5GHZ radio will be used for the bridge, while the 2.4GHZ radio should allow the connection of WI-FI clients.
I also enclose a small hand-drawn pattern.
I’ve tried different configurations, but I’m really inexperienced. Could anyone tell me how to proceed?
Thanks a lot!
Claudio

i think you can do it without problem bridging interfaces
but keep in mind 5ghz radio on WAP-AC has limited TX power (20db per chain), that will limit the distance of stable-reliable operation of point to point 5ghz link
Thanks Chechito.
As a novice, I had also thought of this solution, but I don’t know how to configure it.
Using the wizard I have few choices, and I don’t know how to set it all up manually.
can you help me?
Thanks
Kinda beyond the forums – Mikrotiks give you a lot of ways to do things, both a blessing and a curse of them.
Your plan can work, if the two wAP are close enough together. I’ll let you work through the wiki or forums, but one plan is:
- use QuickSet to set one to “PTP Bridge AP”, creating a SSID for the 5Ghz bridge, and other to “PTP Bridge CPE” using/connect to the same
- once the 5Ghz bridge was working, you could configure the 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi separately to the need “client” Wi-Fi network SSID/password, setting the “mode” of the 2.4Ghz to “ap-bridge” on both the unit
Everything be bridged, the key is just getting each of the Wi-Fi interfaces (2 per unit, 4 total) all aligned. While starting with a clean config and using QuickSet to start isn’t a bad plan to get you going….you cannot use QuickSet more than once!. Once you start messing with Wi-Fi setting for the 2.4Ghz stuff, do not use QuickSet configuration wizard to make any changes.
Hello
Ok, many thanks.
I Will try
