I wanted to submit an application by design on the CPE SXT, I bought one for testing and looking at it I realized that there are openings on the bottom which make it not completely impervious to splashes of water as rain and humidity , among other things I have done some tests with a sprinkler after taking over 4 liters of water I opened the door and inside I found several drops of water.
is a normal thing or is there a design error in this case I recommended to close the holes with hot glue?
It is normal. Those holes are for water to get out It is hard/expensive to make something 100% waterproof so why bother - go with assumption that there will be water and allow it to escape the box.
If mounted correctly water will not get in from bottom holes.
Such threads should get combined eventually.. This issue is heavily discussed in at least few of them. Even I now believe that the design of SXT’s are ok. And since we have few dozens of them running for more than a year, surviving severe winters of down to -32’C, heavy rains in summer and this year wind doesn’t seem to calm down, I’m finally convinced that their design ain’t flawed.
I assume by saying “water” you refer to moisture build up by the radio card section of the board when in contact with cold air and as such a hole is for this moisture to escape out of the antenna, and not water ingress due to poor design, I note there is several holes on the SXT excluding cable entry point only one at the bottom (circular) is needed the rest should be sealed, as it amazing during turbulent windy conditions where rain drops will penetrate to.
