Can someone explain to me what is the purpose of CPE? I have 2 Mikrotik routers 1 set as Home AP and the other set as CPE. I’ve been thinking that using 1 router as CPE it automatically becomes a wifi range extender (AP). So I have the other router in the bedroom to extend the signal but seems not to be doing that. To get wifi connection from the CPE I end up creating a virtual WLAN, can it work purely as an access point?
I too have a problem with CPE mode.
I basically want to create a separate network (LAN & WIFI) that gets internet from my main router.
I used the quick settings to connect the router to the internet router’s wifi with CPE mode.
I bridged all LAN ports. I created a Virtual AP (wan2) and then under bridge->ports I bridged wan2.
This works correctly as long as the internet router is available. However, when the router loses connection to the main router’s wifi that I setup in CPE mode, the Virtual AP (wan2) disappears. How do I get it to keep the virtual ap active even if there is no connection to the internet via the main AP?
