cpu-frequency

Hi,

RB 532 , cpu-frequency is at 266
how to change cpu frequency but not to use serial cable?

i mean over winbox or terminal.
i use /system routerboard setting set cpu-frequency=333MHz
but when reboot no changes.

why this dont work?

You have to set

/system routerboard setting set cpu-frequency=333MHz
/system routerboard setting keep-frequency

then cycle the power…

yy i do keep-frequency , i forgot to write here

but when reboot no effect
i set this by serial cable over ht , and all MT works very good
all MT vorks very stable , all on last version < 2.9.43 >
also i upgrade last firmware <2.8>

but why mikrotik add this command to software when no effect.
why they add this when u cant do this remotely.

NORMIS ???

run the 2 command above twice in a row. . . and it should take effect without reboot. Also, one or two versions disabled this, so make sure your on latest version.

Sam

reboot is not the same as cycle the power… you need to unplug your power source & plug it back in after issuing these commands…

Doubtful about this - I’ve never got it to work wthout cycling the power… on any version, even the latest

I guess a /system resource print still shows 264, whereas the settings shows 330 on both … I assumed it was changing it on the fly.

y i know .
but main question is , why they add this when u cannit change .

also typing command twice dodnt help.
i hope some people from mt will give explanation for this.

i repeat myself , i done this with console cable , before mt starts booting , change freq. and all working fine, but how if my mt is on some tower as AP?
and why they add this when dont working remote.

Thx to all for replay.

regards..

leave it for 5 min and check again - the current frequency always changes back unless you power-cycle…

Maybe you have a network cable/wireless access to your MT system on the tower, but no serial cable… it’s handy then - connect wirelessly, make the change and switch off/on instead of climbing the tower with laptop & serial cable in hand…

/ system routerboard settings set cpu-frequency=330MHz

/ system routerboard settings keep-frequency

I wrote a script that does all the work, but you still have to wait for someone to either pull the plug or for the router to crash.
